During my time at the Eastman School of Music, I have devoted hundreds of hours to the stories of the Armenian Genocide that occurred a little over 100 years ago in the crumbling Ottoman Empire. The main story of my project is that of my great-grandmother, Alice Turian, who survived these horrific times. This blog serves several purposes: a record of my independent study on Contemporary Armenia with Dr. Elena Bellina, a promotion of my upcoming lecture-recital in the Spring 2022 (directed by Timothy Long), a collection of Armenian resources and connections, a media hub for my ongoing Musical Arts project at the Eastman School of Music,
and hopefully above all else:
a lifelong admonition to be aware of the genocides that have taken place and continue to take place in our world - in our lives - each and every day.
